Artists beating drums and blowing trumpets during the annual eight-day Vrischikolsavam festival, which features a colourful procession of decorated elephants and drum performances, at the Sree Poornathrayeesa temple in Kochi, India, yesterday. The festival kicked off with the temple priest hoisting a flag in the presence of devotees. Special prayers and rites were performed earlier.
