Duterte to withdraw Philippines from international rights treaty following criticism of war on drugs

MANILA – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday (March 14) formally began the process to abrogate a UN treaty that created the International Criminal Court, citing a concerted effort by United Nations rights probers to paint him as “a ruthless and heartless violator of human rights”.
