It’s been a week of almosts.

After appearing to step right up to the brink of war, India and Pakistan seem to have taken a very welcome step back. And after a cordial meeting over two days in Hanoi ended abruptly without an agreement, both sides are now offering quite different explanations for how the widely-anticipated deal fell apart.

Finally, today was the original deadline for a trade deal between the US and China before it got pushed back. And what the status of a trade deal? Almost done.
